HE Took Our Cup

“Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.”  Psalm 11:6

There is a cup of which I wish not to imbibe;

the thought of its taste is suicide!

Full of snares it is filled to the brim,

the flavor of which is truly grim! 

Just a touch to the lips is fatal you see,

fire and brimstone and no way to flee! 

The storm of this cup, it shall not impede,

the horror of which will never recede!

The key to this verse is, ‘the wicked’!  This is a category I wish to stay out of!  But when I examine myself, I fit right in, and if you are honest with yourself, you also will find this true. We are all liars, thieves and inwardly corrupt.  This is not just a thought but what is written in the word of GOD!

Thanks be to the Father who sent the Son to take our place!  JESUS was the only man to fit in the category of ‘righteous’!  Tempted He was and yet never sinned!  He was perfect in every way!  He took the cup we deserved!   

“And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.”  Mark 14:36
