He was Right

“The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.” Psalm 19:8

Though others make demands upon the soul,

That never changes a heart.

The teaching of my God,

Are true and love, He does impart!

The joy received is full and free,

Happiness captivates the soul.

The commandments of the Lord,

Are sure, to make this sinner whole!

I see now the things,

That I’ve never seen before.

My wants have changed and so have I!

It’s Christ for evermore!

There is no way to explain the thrust,

That I have to this day.

Jesus is my righteousness,

And there is no other way!

I spent my younger years searching, searching for happiness and peace.  Like Solomon I didn’t find it in the things this life had to offer.  I tried everything I could to bring hope to my unsatisfied life but each time it turned to disappointment.

Broken and barren I found myself in a remote area of Alaska, when I remembered what a kind soul (David Pettis) once told me.  “You are looking for Jesus”, he said and “nothing else will ever satisfy”!  He was right!

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
