“But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that
slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For
as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” 1 Corinthians 15:20-22
I have been thinking the last few of days
on the subject of Easter and what it means.
I’ve come to the conclusion that my feeble mind is not capable of adding
any great and powerful words to this glorious subject matter, which another person,
more able then I, has not already written or said.
A few of my thoughts…
It is impossible to separate the miraculous
birth of the Savior, His death on the cross and the victory over death and the
grave by His resurrection. These three events
are the trinity of God’s plan for man’s redemption. Each part of this trinity is essential for
our salvation and all three are “one” in the Fathers plan for us.
The resurrection consummates God’s plan for
mans redemption, without the defeat of death and the grave there would be no
hope and no victory. “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory
through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor.
15:55-57)
The
believer’s hope of a resurrection lies in the fact that Jesus rose from the
dead and made the way for us. Without
His resurrection that hope is just a wish and not absolute! “But if
there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if
Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.” (1 Cor. 15:13).
There is a fear within me that complacency has come into my
life. I worry that the things of God
have so become a part of my life that I take them for granted. I fear days like Easter, have become just another
day to celebrate, to have a get together with family and friends, get dressed
up in pretty clothes for church, take pictures in the blue bonnets (if you’re
in Texas), have egg hunts with our children and not for Easter’s real meaning.
I pray today when I wake
tomorrow the first thought I have will be, ‘HE HAS RISEN!’ and have a grateful
heart for all He has done for me! Easter
is more than just another day! He has
risen! He lives! “It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen
again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for
us.” Romans 8:34
Please have a wonderful and most excellent
Easter, enjoy family, friends and your gatherings but most of all, be thankful
for the Jesus and His resurrection!!!
God Bless
